Not good enough

On the side of the road she stands
Clutching a sign in her hand
“I need $11” it reads
A thought in my mind starts to seed

What will you do with this?
Who will you hurt?
Will this do anything
Or leave you in the dirt?

How will this care for you?
Will it at all?
What if through giving this I help you to fall?

I continue walking
Pretending not to see
Her bright warm green eyes
Staring at me

For her I am righteous
For her I am proud
But when I buy Amazon
Everything starts to cloud

I no longer wonder
And certainly don’t care
Where my money will go
Once they take their share

What will they do with it?
Who will it hurt?
Will this help children?
Or leave them in the dirt?

How will this care for the world we live in?
Does it matter if people are mistreated as long as I win?

What if through giving this
I do something shady
I set the world much further back
Then if I helped that one lady
